4 Ways to Enhance Home Security in a Family Home Theater

Anyone who has a home theater in the home understands how much you invest in the room. Media devices like televisions, projectors, and sound systems could cost thousands of dollars. The rooms also include high-end furniture, special equipment, and extra devices like video game consoles.
Whether you are trying to add security from children in the home or want to prevent intruder access, here are four ways to help enhance the security your have in your home theater.
1. Media Cabinet & Entry Lock
In some cases, you may only want to protect items in the home theater. In other cases, you may want to protect the whole room. One of the more ideal solutions for both of the security measures is a push-button lock.
As opposed to a standard key, the push-button lock works using a special code. For a media cabinet, you may decide to add a push-button lock to the door to help add extra protection for equipment like Blu-Ray players or game consoles.
An entry lock would prevent children and others from open access to the room. Your expensive equipment would not be tampered with in any way. With the lock, you have the ability to set your own code. With a personal code, you do not need to worry about carrying around keys or leaving key access in the house.
For example, if you go out for the night, you can limit access to the home theater from the children or a babysitter.
2. Document Safes
You may own a collection of Blu-Ray discs, video games, or older media like records and VHS tapes. These items can be expensive or hold sentimental value. Keep the items stored safely with the installation of a document safe.
A document safe includes a variety of shelves to easily place and organize items on. Not only does the safe protect your items from theft or tampering, but it keeps them in mint condition. You do not need to worry about sun damage, exposure to dust, or a variety of other elements.
Some floor to ceiling document safes are large enough to keep a huge library of discs, cases, and other media. If you collect special edition sets or rare collectibles, the document safe is an ideal place to hold the items.
3. Outlet Cover Locks
The last thing you want is someone to just walk into a home theater, yank media devices out of their outlets, and walk off. One way to add an extra layer of protection is with an outlet cover lock.
The outlet cover goes over the plugs and keeps them secured. Not only will the outlet cover help protect the devices from theft, but if you have children in the home, the locks will prevent kids from messing with the plugs or getting a shock.
The outlet covers work with all different sized outlets and will securely attach to the walls.
4. Universal Remote Locks
One of the main ways to get access to the whole home theater is with an advanced universal remote. The remotes have the ability to control all your forms of media along with the lights, sounds, and thermostat in the room.
There are multiple ways to help prevent unauthorized access to the remote. For example, you could set an access code on the remote itself. With the access code, a child will not be able to access mature programs or R-rated media.
The advanced remotes may also be put away in a small safe or a lock-box. The extra protection will help you retain control over your home theater. App connections to the remote may also allow you to monitor the remote use in your home and see when the remote has been accessed.
